Shop at Brigadeiro's: Rachel Roy, Hussein Chalayan & Brian Reyes dresses

Shop at Brigadeiro's

More Items for Sale:

Rachel Roy Helena dress BNWT US$897 - SOLD!

Rachel Roy dress has wide half sleeves, contrast net panel at back, box pleats, a tonal metallic panel at front and back, side seam pockets, an internal elasticated waistband and net lining with hook fastening. 69% viscose, 31% polyester; fully lined.

After I bought this dress I realized I had another one very similar to it, so never got to wear this one. The dress up for grabs is the 'natural' coloured dress, apologies for the sun on the bottom half, the upper half is the part that is true to colour. The mesh is shearer than it appears on the Net-a-Porter's mannequin. Wear this day or night

US$169

Size M (sizing is flexible)

US 4-6 (maybe up to 8)
UK 8-10 (maybe up to 12)

Approximate measurements, as this dress is hard to measure:

Length: 44"
Waist: 31" unstretched (can stretch a few inches)
Bust: harder to measure, as there is no 'armpit' seam to measure from, but I would say it would accommodate a minimum 34" bust to 38 or more, because of the front 'wrap' style.
Hips: free because of the A-line skirt.

New, never worn, with tags still attached. This dress by brilliant designer Hussein Chalayan is exactly like the one in the runway, but in a more wearable fabric of pink & cream silk. LOVE the detailing around the halter neckline, closes with a side invisible zip, fully lined. Unfortunately it has been sitting in my wardrobe unused for quite some time, with tags still attached.

100% silk

Brian Reyes runway ivory silk dress US2 BNWT

Incredibly reluctant and tentative sale, as I may change my mind about this. Purchased when I was a small US 4 I thought I would lose the weight I had gained at the time to fit into this dress, as it was so so stunning. Unfortunately, the scales went the wrong way, and I never got to wear it! I am still hoping for a miracle, hence I have not tried to part with it until now (I may still be in denial). The dress for sale is exactly as above, and comes with a 100% silk slip, and the dress itself is 100% silk. Absolutely stunning! Could be worn as an evening dress or even a 'modern' wedding dress...

Shop at Brigadeiro's: Stella McCartney - dress, skirts & blouse.

My wardrobe 'equilibrium' is not doing too well (i.e. too much coming in, not enough going out), so I am trying to remedy this by clearing some of my favourite pieces (you have to be cruel to be kind) in the next few days, so watch this space!

Stella McCartney runway silk dress US$1645 size 38 - SOLD!

www.firstview.com

Only worn once, for a few hours. This dress buttons all the way down (press stud buttons), so can be worn open, if you wish to do so, or closed, as shown on the runway by the stunning Lily Donaldson. In excellent, as new condition (I recently found myself the same dress one size bigger, which I felt was more forgiving on my 'expanding waistline').
US$369.

US 2-4
UK 6-8
Hips: 36" (at the widest part)
Length: 39"

Stella McCartney red silk pleated skirt size 40 (fits smaller) - SOLD!

New, never worn. So sad to part with this as it is so cute! A flippy flirty skirt that would look stunning with a t-shirt, blouse or blazer, dressed up or down, in Winter or Summer (even though it is a Winter piece).

100% silk, beautiful pleated detail.
Closes with an invisible size zip & engraved button.

Stella McCartney silk Monkey blouse size 40 - SOLD!

Only worn once, again, only for a few hours. This gorgeous & versatile blouse has a removable collar and a cute monkey button (Stella seems to have a thing for monkeys and horses, don't you think?). The fabric is a gorgeous soft silk blend with almost a 'mesh' herringbone finish.

Italian size 40
US 4 - small 6 (although it will also fit a US 2 loosely)
UK 8 - small 10 (although it will also fit a UK 6 loosely)

Recent Buys: Chloe(s), Phi, Balenciaga & Alpha60

Chloe

I finally got my hands on the grey version (pic HERE) of the Chloe sweatshirt dress below. I already had the hoodie jacket version, as I could not find the dress, but at last! After a long long search, the sweatshirt dress is finally mine! I have always been a fan of grey marle, and that combined with the off-shoulder silhouette and silk flower appliques set my heart aflutter...

More Chloe

I usually favour Phoebe Philo & Stella McCartney Chloe pieces - but when I spotted this silk jumpsuit by Hannah McGibbon on the runway, I fell in love...Of course, at the moment I look like a circus clown in it, so may have to wait a few months to actually wear it. Wonder how it will look in Winter time...

Phi

I have already used this silk vest so many times, love its versatility (and can you believe I can button it up with a 9-month pregnant belly, with room to spare?) and ease of use, just throw it over whatever I am wearing, and it can hide a multitude of sins...The mesh panels give it a sportswear edge, but the silk lapels and body also make it quite dressy if required, so I get the best of both worlds:

Balenciaga

Another long search that paid off...the Balenciaga cork sandals in black leather:

Alpha60

Another item I have been wanting for ages (this one for well over a year), from Australian label Alpha 60, these wool pleated scarves are so versatile, I hope to wear them over so many outfits in a 100 different ways...Last weekend I could not decide between the grey wool scarf (with faint blue through it) or the softer shiny black scarf, but in the end, opted for both in the wool version, as it has more structure to it, making them more of a 'statement' piece:

Melbourne Weekend: Chloe, Chanel & Cumulus

Thank you all for your lovely comments in my previous post! I had a lovely (yet rushed) weekend in Melbourne...Although I did manage to squeeze in a little bit of window shopping in. Loved this gorgeous mural next to the Chanel store:

click to enlarge (above and/or below) or click HERE for close-up of the tunic

Dress: Chloe beaded tunic (even though it is more of a 'romper' - don't laugh, Susie Poosie, with the bottom part joined in the middle, I wore it as a tunic, over a Witchery black tank stretchy dress...I quite liked the 'draped-to-the-side' effect that had, and it was more comfortable to walk in all day...
Bag: Burberry Malika hobo in tan (Christmas present from my gorgeous sisters)

How much is that 'doggy' (aka Chanel reissue) in the window?

Loved the heel on these Gucci shoes

Beautiful lunch at Cumulus with friends and 'bubbly'...the highlight of our trip

The sight of the bread at Cumulus always puts a huge grin on my face (you can click on the bread picture to enlarge)

Starting with slow cooked octupus with aioli & dehydrated olive...an absolute delight! I loved the little kick the sliver of green chilli gave to each delicious bite-sized morsel...

Grilled zucchini, barrel aged fetta, pine nuts and currants, went beautifully with the dish below:

Mustard crumbed pig's tail, garlic snails, picked shallots & watercress...Even though this may sound a little weird, it was absolutely delicious! So moist, full of beautiful flavour...I wanted more!

The whole slow roast lamb shoulder was incredible! The meat was falling off the bone and so moist & tasty, served with pickled red onions & lemon.

Berry & Frangipane tart (and I took some delightful little cookies with me in a paper bag)

The madeleines filled with lemon curd are absolutely to-die-for, and are more than worth the 15 minute wait...

The reason for my trip to Melbourne, was to attend a function where hubby was to receive a prestigious award. Remember I wrote that he was sitting some very important exams last year? Not only did he pass, but he received the highest marks in the country! Oh yes, I was/am very proud...

Weekend rundown:

Purchases: Nil. I almost purchased the Alpha60 pleated scarves at their GPO store, but could not decide between 2-3 different scarves, thankfully I can purchase them by mail order, I think I have finally decided which ones to get...

Outfits: packed in my suitcase: Witchery black stretchy tank dress, Phi black silk & mesh long sleeveless blazer/jacket, Nathan Jenden pleated wool dress, Chloe beaded tunic, Dries Van Noten silk sequinned clutch, Burberry Malika hobo leather bag in tan, Dries Van Noten 'nude' leather sandals.

Breathtaking moments: Loved the buttersoft leather skirt in Tan at Scanlan & Theodore (slightly draped and tulip-shaped)...but did not even attempt to squeeze myself into it, so as to not depress myself...am hopeful it is still in stores when my body is more 'leather-skirt friendly'. Also fell in love with several pieces at the Willow store, including a drapey yellow silk chiffon blouse, and the beaded belts/necklaces. Was slightly starry eyed when I spotted the Dries Van Noten bracelet from SS'10 at Belinda...stunning! They also had the green clutch below:

Shops covered:

Hawksburn & Armadale: on Malvern Rd (Hawksburn): Empire Rose, Willow, Belinda; on High St Armadale: Kirrily Johnston, Ksubi, Falke, Aesop, Scanlan & Theodore, Lee Matthews.

City: most stores I tried to go to were closed, so only managed to see a few at the GPO: Acne, Alpha60 and Willow.

Food:

Dinner (night 1) at the new Mexican restaurant Mamasita (1/11 Collins St)
- the place was so dark my pictures did not turn out well. I quite enjoyed the corn on the cob with queso, chilli, & lime (with the delicious sauces they bring to your table), I highly recommend the Quesadilla de Huitlacoche (mexican truffle) and the incredible roast lamb (which was absolutely delicious).

Breakfast: was at Mart 130 - cool set-up outside a Tram stop (hence 'Mart' is tram spelt backwards), although unfortunately the food was a bit of a let-down (I had a triple stack of pancakes with belgian chocolate sauce, toasted hazelnuts, banana & vanilla bean mascarpone - sounded much nicer than it tasted I'm afraid), I much preferred the breakfast I had at St Ali in South Melbourne during my last trip in January (I never got the time to post about that trip for the Australian Open, sorry!). Last trip I also had breakfast at Cumulus Inc, which was quite nice (although not as filling as St Ali).

Dinner (night 2): Thaila Thai (Lygon St, Brunswick)- one of my favourite 'cheap eats' in Melbourne, a dinner for 2 including corkage came up to $34, with enough leftovers for hubby to eat the next morning. Love this place!

Lunch: Cumulus Inc. - fabulous food!

My beaded Chloe tunic

style.com

In a few hours I will be on a plane to Melbourne for the weekend, and with me I am packing my Chloe tunic, trimmed with green silk and weighed down with gorgeous colourful glass beads (the colours remind me of candy cane and Christmas time, despite it being a Spring/Summer item). However, I will not be as daring as Karolina Kurkova above, who is wearing it with merely one undergarment...

Wishing you all a fabulous weekend!

Japan: Hakone - Mt Fuji, Lake Ashi and Kaiseki dinners

Now that all the Fashion Week(s) for Autumn/Winter 2010 are finally over, thought I would share some more pics of my recent trip to Japan, in particular, of Hakone. Hakone is 100km away from Tokyo, and is one of the most popular onsen spots of Japan, near Mount Fuji and Lake Ashi. I absolutely loved Hotel Green Plaza, which I highly recommend, with its stunning view of Mt Fuji from my balcony and onsen (outdoor hot spring bath). If you are visiting Tokyo and have enough time to make a day trip (or preferably, are able to stay a night or two) to Hakone, I highly recommend doing so...

Mt Fuji view from my balcony - breathtaking (unfortunately pictures do not do it justice, it was incredibly majestic)

We stayed in a 'Japanese style room', where at night they move this table to the other 'room' to lay out your futon bed (so comfortable!)

The hotel also provides Yukata kimonos, vests & slippers so you can lounge around comfortably around the hotel as well as to and from the onsen.

These gardens must look spectacular in Springtime

If in Hakone, I highly recommend getting a Hakone Free Pass, which allows you to travel by cable car (as pictured above), boat (pictured below), train and local buses; definitely cost-effective.

The boat ride on the 'pirate ship' on Lake Ashi was an incredibly fun & beautiful experience, especially when seeing Mt Fuji from the lake.

My sister looked so cute in her outfit, I could not help but snap a pic, she is wearing:
Burberry tweed coat with bell sleevees
Burberry alpaca scarf
H&M hat (I think)
Burberry Beaton black quilted bag
Black leather riding boots (I forget by whom)
My Chanel sunglasses (I thought it went with her outfit)
Country Road ivory leather elbow-length gloves I gave her one year for her birthday

The Hakone Open Air museum was worth a visit (the wonderful weather definitely made the experience even more enjoyable)

The incredible stained glass in the 'lighthouse'

Loved all the colours...

Burberry Prorsum silk/wool quilted military coat
Akira silk/wool dress
Chloe flat buckle boots
Chloe 'Ava' bag in Mocha
Chanel sunglasses
SABA merino wool turtleneck (not shown) & Falke merino wool tights

Inside the cool wooden 'structure' above you will find:

This was an incredibly fun and beautiful part of the Museum, where children and adults alike had a blast...

Too cute for words

The highlight of my trip were the two Kaiseki dinners I had at the hotel, the beautifully presented dishes (almost too numerous) drew a sigh from me each and every time, shame I could not read the Japanese menu to know exactly what I was eating...

The attention to detail is incredible...cute Japanese paper under the little bowl on a carved tiny wooden tray.

This beautiful paper was wet and placed over a green ceramic square bowl, such a simple idea with a stunning effect...

I could seriously live in sashimi - love it!

There was a tasty and beautiful morsel in that cute ceramic 'container'

Every dish was a work of art...

These were beans!

Sake Ice Cream! It did not taste like Sake, but was so refreshing, light and absolutely delightful...
